The available money that governments can allot in arts and sports is limited and thus governments has to decide whether they should expense more on arts or on athletics. I think governments should spend more money in arts than in athletics, because of the critical part that governments play in protecting arts and athletics’ easy-funding. On one hand, nowadays, many kinds of art are in danger of being extinct, especially folk art. Many artists have stopped creating or inheriting for the lack of fund support. Governments’ monetary help is crucial for art reservation.Take China shadow play as an example, when i was seven years old, many people in my hometown played shadow puppet and i watched the play three times a week. After about five years, there was only one person, Jack Chen, playing. I could not watch the play as often as i could before. My town chief noticed the change, and then spent about two million on supporting the Shadow player and finding new apprentices. Now, my hometown became the town of shadow play and i can watch shadow play whenever i want. Therefore governments financial support is very important for arts. On the other hand, there are many organizations besides governments willing to support athletics. Those organizations even compete for the chance of sponsoring. For instance, last year, Hebei province in China intended to hold a teenager race. There were ten companies bidding for the right of sponsor. Those companies includes not only some big companies such as H-Water and Run-Sport but also some small brave companies such as Lui Milk and Bro-Car. Finally, Lui Milk got the bid with ten thousand dollars. By the way, the race was held very successfully Therefore it is a perfection letting companies to fund athletics. To sum up, the governments should spend more money in arts than in athletics. Because both arts can survive well by the large cost from government and athletics can get fund easily from many non-governmental organizations.
