University ranking is becoming a craze in recent year. Almost all universities around china have been involved in university ranking, including the most famous one in china, perking university. For this phenomenon, opinions vary from people to people. Some of them are in favor of this act. In their ground, by ranking universities, people divide universities into different classes according to different aspects of universities. Based on this act, good ones and bad ones can be distinguished more clearly, which is more convenient for students to choose when they apply universities. In addition, university ranking can promote the development of universities. Those which are in high classes could attract more students and more investment from government and society. However, some people don’t agree with opinions above mentioned. As they think, university ranking is not scientific and therefore it can’t reflect the real competence of university. Ranking universities blindly could only cause the waste of time and money, which is harmful not only to education but also to the whole society. As far as I am concerned, university ranking makes sense, but we can’t charge a university only by its rank. To evaluate a university, many aspects should be taken into consideration. As regard the choice of university, students should make their decision based on their interests.
