Some people claim that universities should allocate equal amount of money to support the development of sports as to libraries since sports are beneficial to students to keep fit and enhance the efficiency of studying. But as for me. universities do have the obligation to give higher priority to the funding of libraries than to that of athletic facilities. To begin with, blindly allocating equal amounts of money on various fields may poses a threat to competitiveness of university. As we all know, the budget of a university is so limited that the school has to rank the preferred development areas to allocate much more money than any other realms. If athletic facilities received equal amounts of money as libraries, which means that money spent on libraries and classes will relatively reduce, then all fields cannot develop fully due to lack of money. Which, in turn, leads to the "brain drain" , thus undermining the competitiveness of school. Therefore, this policy should not be encouraged. Further, problems of scarcity of athletic facilities and social activities can be addressed by cooperation with other universities or some companies, but resources in library, especially involved in certain fields, may can be found in certain schools. For example, Harrison is a senior student in a medical academy and is busy with the coming Anatomy exam. But she cannot found enough reference books in the library of her school. It’ s little wonder that she will ask for help to other medical university rather than engineering university. On contrast, athletic facilities are common. For this, how can you assume that spots and libraries should receive equal finical support? I admit that sports are playing an increasingly important role in our daily life, as students, only having a strong physics, can they easily cope with the heavy workload, then laying a solid foundation to quickly adapt to society. Even so, the school also needs to confirm the priority areas so that their students have a competitive edge in the future. In conclusion, there is nothing wrong to pay attention to the development of sports. Classes and libraries, as the daily necessities of students, though, should never be neglected.
