Have your parents ever taught you to be wary of strangers when you were children? Although this is a kind of self-defense, children have begun considering the world with distrust. Is seems that people can hardly have confidence in others: gifts from stranger may be regarded as trap of some sort; they install the security mesh and security doors to protect their properties; even teenagers prefer to lock their drawers. All these make me feel sad. Why is it so different for people to trust others? For example, when we meet a man begging for money due to his handicapped leg in the street, we would think whether he is cheating us. Moreover, so great is our distrust, that we are becoming increasingly cautious about others’ guarantee, even a piece of word. This gives rise to a worrying problem that the degree of trust among individuals has decreased. Plus, in business circle we customers couldn’t easily believe what the merchant has guaranteed. Those merchants who get benefits by cheating customers would inevitably suffer penalty. So, honest counts most. I can’t resist concluding this article with a piece of advice: treat others honestly and you will gain other’s confidence as well.
