With the accelerating development of science and technology, our life style has been tremendously changed. Nowadays, computer games have already become indispensable parts of our daily life. Some parents use computer games to comfort their children. Since the games are commonly interesting and extremely attractive to children, children will stop bother their parents. Some people believe that even though computer games might not do great benefits to the children’s growth, they will not do great harm either.However, from my own perspective, playing computer games is a waste of time and is harmful to children’s growth. Therefore, children should not be allowed to play them. To begin with, nowadays, children spend less attention and energy to creation and thinking since they are too busy with playing computer games. As we all know, the advances in technology, especially in the field of computer and Internet, have provided children with increasing number of entertainment methodology.Since children usually do not possess the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, children are more likely to be attracted by interesting games. In the past time, children used their imagination to create images in their brains. However, now, they could receive the images directly from computer games. Thus, I insist that playing internet games put great limitation in children’s imagination, which does great damage to creativity. It is necessary for us to take measures to stop children from playing computer games. Secondly, playing computer games is harmful for children’s physical and psychological health. Staring at the computer screen is bad for their eyes. What’s more, compared with adults, children are more easily to be addicted in Internet games, some of which contain some violent factors. Since children are in their formative years, computer games may expose them to violence at an age when they cannot differentiate good from bad. Some children, with great curiosity, will imitate what they have saw in the games,which may result in dramatically terrible consequences and damage their psychology health. According to a survey conducted by a psychological organization, children indulged in computer games tend to be more violent and distrustful to others. Therefore, children should not be allowed to play electronic games. Based on what I have discussed, playing computer games may have terrible influence on children’s growth. Children will become less creative and bad in health if they spend most of their time in playing computer games. Therefore, children should not be allowed to playing computer games.
