Competition and cooperation seem to be two different opposites, which people have to choose one from them. Some think that the former is more important than the latter, while others have the opposite opinion. However, the contrast between the competition and cooperation is clear and unclear. But in fact, one of this two will influence the other. Therefore,in my opinion, competition and cooperation play equally important roles in modem world. Competition has played a basic part during the course of battle of human society. In the earliest days,at the time that the natural resources were too limited to keep all the species alive, the stronger and bigger groups won the weaker and smaller groups. Then the groups which won had survived and the society developed. In modern world, competition still act as a clear and necessary part for people from all walks of life. In a company, competition helps people to get higher positions; in the field of science, competition helps to distinguish talented scientists from the silly; in a nation, competition helps to choose the most knowledgeable and ambitions as leaders. All in all, competition really means a lot to the achievement of the human being and the society. However, people who believe that competition is more important than the cooperation may disagree with the importance of the cooperation and the contributes of the cooperation. In the old days, the species needed to fight against the great enemy for the survival. In the present-day society, cooperation let varied groups to exist in one field and then to help each other. There're a lot of examples exist in our society. We could get more if we cooperate with others, for example, hold a shop,do some business, creat the new informations and new products. We can have the extra money and time to do some other things if we have the partners at the cooperation. All in all, we can safely conclude that competition and co-operation are equally important to the social development. The over-emphasis on or the neglect of either will cause losses and even damages. We can get more if we mix up these two things.
