Children are often told to comply with traditional values while some prefer letting children behave with personal characters. I hold the belief that expressing individuality is of more important. Sometimes young people's novel ideas may change the whole world which emphasizes the importance of thinking originally. Traditional values include those merits passed down from previous generation such as perseverance, politeness as well as teamwork. These merits should be taught in formative years because they have to know the importance of discipline, rules and social orders in early education. They can also avoid unruly or disruptive behaviour such as making noises and vandalism. Besides, traditional family values stress the significance of interacting and communicating with other family members. Such values help children to build strong bonds with families and peers improving psychological health and emotional well-being. From a societal perspective, children educated by conventional ideas would be more helpful and responsible in the community. They are not inclined to behave aggressively and thus these personalities are conducive to their further development. However, youngsters who conform to established norms and regulations all the time are prone to be less innovative and creative. Exposures to up-to-date information and novel ideas on the Internet may encourage them to exhibit individuality and to study actively. In this learning process, they are allowed to hone their analytical abilities and critical thinking skills which help them figure out creative solutions in conformity with various problems. Compared with traditional values, nowadays, educators are more likely to provide resources and impart methods to students rather than rote memorisation because self-directed learning and problem-solving skills are of essence. Thinking personally and breaking the mould are critically meaningful and indispensable for breakthrough in any areas as well as the development of the humankind. Importance of traditional values should not be overlooked anytime owing to its positive influences on early education. Still, young people's personal choices and thoughts should be respected and appreciated.
