　　　For many old people in China, they prefer to live with their son or grandson in spite of the divergence caused by generation gap, because they think the family’s union is a reflection of its prosperity. However, for many young people, they are not willing to share the house with their parents or grandparents for they think they need freedom and personal space that the elder ought not to be involved in. Since I am a truly young people, I prefer to live in a smaller family unit where I can enjoy myself and do not feel stressful. 　　　I live in a big family which is composed by 3 generations：my grandparents，my parents, my brother and I. There is no doubt that a big family may sometimes bring you warmth, because family is the safest harbour of which the members will comfort and console us when we are weak and painful. The love from family is selfless, and the tie of blood makes us live together to care and love each other. 　　　However, there are also plenty of conflicts especially between my grandparents and my parents. They argue about trivial matters because they have different viewpoints towards an incident. They have received different education and have different life experience due to the fast-developing society. My parents and I sometimes may also feel embarrassed when we are talking about consumption or marriage. 　　　Besides, small family unit gives people more freedom than that of the big family. Compared with my family, my cousin lives in a small family made up by 3 family members. Though they sometimes have conflicts, they can tackle it rationally by consulting, discussing or voting. In a small family, the family members have more topics to talk about and every family member can be involved in the family affairs, making decisions and schedules. 　　　Both the public and private transportation developing so very fast, people could visit each other easily nowadays. Since the convenient transportation narrows the distance, the distance will not estrange the relationship with relatives and friends. In contrary, the distance is another kind of beauty which tightens the tie between other people and us. My grandparents recently made up their mind to live individually in a smaller apartment, and also my parents decide to buy a second-hand house where they will spend the their retired life. I also choose to live individually in my future where the elders will not be involved. 　　　For most young people, small family unit will also save a lot of money for both their parents and themselves. Many young people have to buy a enough big house to accommodate the whole family. With the estate price skyrocketing, many of them are not rich enough to afford such a big apartment. Therefore, many young people in China choose to loan from the bank and become the “house slave”. 　　　Last but not the least, our society is becoming more and more democratic, and people are living more and more individually. Everyone has their own way of life which is not easy to change. A small family unit is really an approach to dealing with the conflict taken place in big families.
