Love the way you are In such a competitive society, many people are struggling for success. Just like the bird’s choice, to fly or to die, people are also confronted with such choice: to be successful or to be ordinary. Therefore, people try hard to find approaches to success, which contributes to the establishment of a new business called “success industry” that teaches people how to be successful by imitating the behavour and manners of the success. However, as far as I am concerned, everyone is different, and different people have different way of being successful. Never should we copy other people’s experience while ignore the significance of our own mind. Columbus firstly discovered the New World, so people regarded him as one of the greatest navigators in the history. People who then came to the Americas are called “the follower” or “the immigrant”. In the modern society, we are not in shortage of followers. Contrarily, we lack in creative minds and new ideas. When Edison firstly invented electric lamp, the whole world was excited and inspired by his invention, and people called him “inventor”, “genius” and “milestone”. However, the people who widely used the invention to daily life are called businessmen. If we always be the follower, and constantly copy other people’s way of life, we will gradually lose our creativity just like a machine which just imitate people’s behavour and carry out human’s order. We generation are fortunate to witness the historic transformation that has taken place in China. At the very beginning of the“ Reform and Opening Up”, many people in my hometown were heading to the coastal area of east China for the purpose of “grasping the opportunity”. Many of them as the first batch of “adventurer” have earned much more money than expected. However, nowadays the reality is that many people cannot find a job to support his /her expenditure. A large quantity of my schoolmates chooses to drop out from school and follow their parents to hunt jobs in cosmopolitan cities like Shanghai, Guangzhou and so on. However, they are not as lucky as the first batch of people. They live poorly and they are not rich at all. They choose to be like many other people in my hometown who believe that find a job in the coastal line cities means being rich. They think they are on the way to be rich, so they think drop out from school is the smartest decision they have ever made. I am not going to say that follower are equal to failure, and I also agree that people should learn some good points from successful people. However, if you are trying to be another “him/her”, there is no success ahead waiting for you. One of my best friends Lu Yao once asked me to attend her first lecture in the school hall. After the lecture, I told her that I was deeply impressed and inspired by her words. Since her idol is Yang Lane, I told her that I considered her the second Yang Lane. However, she was not pleased by my compliment and told me that she was not willing to be another Yang but to be the first “Lu Yao”. For most of the times, we do not know who we are and what we really need. We need guidance and instruction, but we should always be ourselves and love the way we are.
