This is no denying the fact that the value of science and art has become the utmost concern among people in recent days. As to me, I do not entirely agree to the function of science is to reassure, the purpose of art is to upset. Science has the function as same as the art. To bolster my stance, I will explore the point as the following. To begin with, the effect of science is magical. While it often soothes man`s oldest fears about his mortality by producing life-extending medicines and eliminating risks in his environment, it still may act as good way to help human allay funk, and also will bring trouble. For example, the development of nuclear science resolve the problem of energy crisis, at the same time, it brings difficulty in controlling the environmental pollution, even it is used to make nuclear weapons. Then, the purpose of art is pleasantly surprised. It is ture that art also has the undeniable effect of setting us, at times. Difficult of understand art and the obscenity posing as art often appeared in front of us. Although this is only a small part of art. Most of the art can bring beauty and calm to us. For instance, Irish poet Yeats`s poem, "when you are old" describe the beautiful picture of a beauty in her old age and lover still around. In sum, we need to take a clear look at science and art from multiple aspects. We must recognize that science and art both point problem, and they both provide solutions. As to us, can let both of them to the right direction.
