The advancement of the society is not without the emergence of crimes and punishments of the outlaws.Some people consider that the imprisonment will be less effective than the cure of education and training.In my opinion, the confinement a prison offers is of the greatest use. First,it is obvious that the prison is never about to serve as a school, it is about to limit the law breakers' ability and possibility of hurting the innocent people again.If everything had a second chance through education, the punishment would never justify the crime because it would make the criminal conduct become a costless activity viable to the group with ulterior motives,ultimately presenting a danger to the innocent.Thus,education will not be an effective way to deal with them. Moreover,many people end up in jail not because they lack education or work competence, but because of their inner greediness which induces their disrespect of the law,others' properties or even lives.For example,it is not rare to see the white collars with degrees from renowned college and high positions in a company,committed crimes that involved complex technics and expertise,such as embezzlement,tax evasion and so on.Hence,education itself will not be a solution to the problem whereas a period of restriction will suffice. Admittedly, the people who are really ill-literated can receive cultivation.However,with proliferation of free compulsory education and the overall improvement of living standards,these people are several nowadays. In sum,imprisoning the law breakers can protect the innocent while preventing the criminals from the guilt of committing crimes again.We should firmly hold fast to this solution,if permitted,adding more features such as education,on-job training etc.Only in this way can we make sure the harmony and security of our society and pass on a favourable surroundings to our successors.
