Since the Department of Education lifted the ban on students getting married while still in college in 2005, the number of young couples that choose to get married before graduation is on the increase with each passing day. This phenomenon has became a hot topic and has arouse wild public concern. Many people hold the opinion that early marriage is likely to hamper the development of college students, while others hold the opposite views. As for me, I tend to remain neutral on this issue. My arguments for this point are listed as follows. The main reason for my propensity is that the effects of early marriage on students vary from person to person. On the one hand, for instance, for a man who has a wise head on young shoulders, and is economically independent as well, we can’t say for sure that he is not able and mentally prepared to get married and undertake the corresponding responsibilities. On the other hand, for an impetuous young man, the corresponding responsibilities and problems come with early marriage may turn his life into a disaster. Furthermore, a stable and enjoyable relationship can motivate people to work harder for their family. In a word, everything is a double-edged sword, early marriage is no exception. We should approach a problem objectively. Whether to marry early or not is depend on one’s personal conditions.
