Dear Peter,
Thanks for your letter. I am really unhappy these days because I didn’t pass the English exam. I often find it hard to understand reading materials. I think maybe it’s because there are so many difficult words in them and I seldom read English after class. Besides, some materials are really boring for me.
What should I do? Can you give me some suggestions?
Yours,
Li Hua

请作者增加学术词汇的使用,不过单词拼写做的很好;在平时练习中应增加词汇量的积累;文章层次不够分明,缺少组织,需注意文章整体的组织结构。
Dear Li Hua, I'm sorry to hear that you're unhappy now. But I don't think you need to worry about the exam. You have known what your problems are I'm sure you will get good grades once you find the right ways to solve them. Here I have some advice for you. First, try to read easier materials with fewer new words. And don't worry about them. When you come across a new word, it's a good idea to guess its meaning according to the passage. Sometimes you call even leave it aside. Next, it's very important to read regularly. You'd better read English after class every day. It doesn't have to take long. Five minutes is enough. If you find something is boring, why not drop it and read something interesting instead. You can always find something that interests you. What about short stories or jokes? When reading them, you are not only learning a language but also having fun. Yours, Peter
