Nowadays, people all over the world prefer to watch foreign films much more than the locally produced ones. Why is this the case? Should the government give financial support to the local film industry?

Interestingly, people in China tend to prefer to watching foreign film instead of locally produced ones. Some people may argue that government's supports are not enough at all. However, from my perspective, it's the core reason. In my view, the root of this phenomenon is that local film industry lack innovation. To be more specific, when it comes to what the Chinese typical film is , almost everyone will say Kung Fu. Actually, it is a special feature of Chinese films that can attract a lot of people's attention. Nevertheless, the problem is that some local film industries keep shooting this kind of films with boring plots, lacking deep thoughts. What they want to do is simply to make money or fulfill audiences' visual enjoyment, without consideration of the contents. Whereas, plenty of foreign films provoke people to think independently and even can have a profound effect on people's lifetime, not to mention their advanced special effects.Besides, themes of their films are always changing, ranging from hot social spots to human nature. So, in view of these situations of Chinese film industry, it's extremely necessary to involve government's help to improve it. Supporting film industry, which is an essential part of culture industry, is the inescapable responsibility for government. However, what the government is expected to do is not to impose strict restrictions on importing foreign films. Instead, government is supposed to offer local film industry financial supports in order to develop much more advanced special effects technology. What's more, accelerate the progress of cultivating experts in writing plays to arouse the public attention to the development of local film industry, getting the support from people. All in all, with the support of government, in face of intense competition from foreign film, I believe local film industry is a promising area which can be admired by people and create a wealth of fortune for both of government and people themselves.
