In the most parts of world, the volume of traffic is growing at an alarming rate, coming with increasing reliance on private cars, which contributes to an overburdened road system. What is under controversy is how to reduce car dependency and control increasing car ownership. To be frank, I am in high favor that we are expected to be well aware of the traffic problem. In my view, the underlying problem is the fact that the fast pace of urban expansion. Overwhelming migrant worker and young people are flocking to the metropolises from small town in order to gain more job opportunities and have a comfortable living environment so that heavy overpopulation is inevitable. Apparently, the urban has to expand more to fulfill the demand of living, leading to the long distance between home and work place for a lot of people. Furthermore, the lack of the infrastructure construction also cannot meet the sharp increase in car ownership. Besides, government encourages people to purchase cars to stimulate the economy. The solution,I think,is for government to inject more funds into the construction of infrastructure, increase more construction, such as the restructuring of metro system, elevated ways, Pearl line, and superhighway. Also government should levy heavy tax on luxurious products, and encourage people to use bus service instead of private cars. To individuals, we may continue to carry out the family planning to control the growth of the population. Furthermore, we should publicize the importance of obeying the traffic regulations among people by education, and form the civil health lifestyle. Establishing satellite city is a good option as well. It not only can largely increase the capacity of city but also can attract more people to come in, providing adequate labor force. To conclude, with joint effort of people and government, I am sure the traffic problems will be improved.
