It is very important to resolve the problems between individuals or groups. If we do not deal with the conflicts in a proper way, the problems may be much worse. What we need to consider and keep in mind is to check our own mistakes first and find the common ground between groups or individuals. Initially, “To take a step to gain more” means introspecting ourselves when we possess conflicts between individuals. Just finding others’ mistakes may lead to a much more terrible situation. A typical example can illustrate it. Around two years ago I rode a bicycle to go to school. Suddenly, there was another bike colliding me, which made me extremely angry. Nevertheless, that student was full of rage as well. I quarreled with him for a long time, but we had not dealt with the problem yet. At last, we carefully considered our own mistakes. I found that I ran the red light just now and rode so quickly. On the other hand, he introspected himself that he rode the reverse direction so he collide me; as a result, we both said sorry and successfully resolved the conflicts. In addition, finding the common ground is also a good approach to solving problems between groups because only the mediators know about the same requirement of the two sides, can they successfully deal with the conflicts. A typical example can illustrate it. Many years ago there were many sea rovers in the Indian Ocean robbing resources from the wealthy country so they usually began wars to scramble for these goods and materials; as a result, the United Nations took actions to help them resolve the problems. The mediator asked what they are worried about most. Both of the two groups stated that they robbed because they could not get rid of the famine and the poverty line. Therefore, the United Nations could provide their aid for them in allusion of the serious condition. Since then, there were fewer and fewer sea rovers in the Indian Ocean. To sum up, it is difficult to avoid the conflicts between individuals or groups, but finding the way of solving problems helps us dealing with them. Considering our own mistakes and looking for the common ground between two groups are the two most meaningful methods in my opinion.
