Some taxpayers think that government should not spend money on arts for it having no direct output. However, I think art play a potential role in people's daily life. So the government shouldn't single out art. Some taxpayers wish their money to be allocated to such areas as education, sanitation, environmental protection or infrastructure so they can enjoy the obvious benefits. Nevertheless, human lives are not all about those fundamental aspects because we have art needs. And arts are so distinctive that none of the above listed areas can replace it. Why is art necessary? Firstly, it reflects one's affection and sense of value. For example, Chinese painters see bamboo as a symbol of virtue and noble. Throughout history, people around the world have created numerous songs to express love, ambition, hatreds, loneliness, disappointment, joy. Secondly, art stimulates creativity. That can be proved by varied work of architecture design, landscape design, and industrial design. Thirdly, art can be a leisure activity. Such as KTV and comic industry as well as animation which enjoy a huge group of fans who wish to seek some reliefs or entertainment. Last but not lest, people around the world may have difficulties to communicate in different languages, but they can interact with each other freely by art. That's why Beethoven's symphonies enjoy a worldwide reputation. Base on above, I think it's better for the government to investment in both infrastructure and art to keep our society prosperous.
