第一段：引入话题的对立面：奖学金发放，大学研究经费倾向科学还是‘用处不大’的学科，如艺术，社会科学
第二段：1当然科学研究可以直接产生看得见的成果，如产品或技术，可以提高人民的生活水平;2科研的成果会提高生产力;3 医学研究提高大众健康水平和寿命
但是只支持科学研究，而不顾人们其他方面的需求会导致社会畸形发展，最终也会制约科技的发展。
第三段：人民需要艺术，因为：艺术相关人们的情感和价值观，这是人们行为的核心部分;艺术培养人的创造和创新能力;艺术是娱乐休闲方式，艺术是感情和精力释放的安全方式;艺术促进不同文化和民族间的理解，稳定社会的发展。社会科学如哲学历史人类学心理学等加深人们对人类自身的理解和更深远地对未来的健康发展的规划。
第四段：政府应该既资助大学的科学研究，也资助社会科学和艺术。这样才能创造一个健康有生机的社会。

I totally disagree with this point. Basically it has some logic flaws that made it unfounded. To begin with, the aim of postgraduate education is to practice one's ability to do independent thinking and create knowledge. In another word, although they may use different methods and get different results, they are nevertheless practicing the same thing exploring the unknown. Next, you may argue by presenting your criteria: Whether it is scientific? Whether it is useful? In the first place, scientific research does not mean useful research. Take basic science as an example, has cosmology brought any benefits to you? Absolutely no. But cosmology can satisfy our curiosity and may have the potential to bring human with some new discoveries that even exceed the criterion of usefulness. All basic sciences seems useless, but all today's unprecedented technologies were based on basic sciences. On the other hand, useful research may not fit into the range of scientific research. Like Psychology is useful in artificial intelligence, and economic is important in guiding our nation's economy, also politics and strategics are so critical in determining a nation's future. Last but not least, even take philosophy and religion both as examples, are they truly useless? I doubt it if we take millions of Christians and Muslims and Buddhists into account. Not to mention so many movies and dramas are seeking inspirations from traditional literature. So postgraduate education can't limited only on scientific research, both subjects can be useful.
