Due to the development of medical care and the changes of people’s minds, the number of aging people has increased rapidly in recent years. This change shows the progress of society, however, some people who hold opposing views think that it is a regress of the whole nation. From my perspective, this is the inevitable process of civilisation, but the problems should be solved. In terms of the growth of older people, the advantages are obvious. First of all, to some extent, it helps youngsters reduce their heavy burdens, especially for the workers who have children. For instance, in eastern cultures, it is tradition for elder to take good care of their grandsons or granddaughters. By doing this, parents workers are more likely to keep balance between work and family as well as concentrate on their work. For company, it is also beneficial to boost productivity and efficiency and therefore gain more profits. Moreover, elder play an important role in society. After retirement, most of them choose to do some social works, like volunteers for social stability. On the minus side, this change has adverse effects on the economy. Apparently, there is no enough labor inn domestic market as more and more people are getting older. And that is why some countries employ a lot of foreign workers from other countries. It also directly leads to many vacancy in certain occupation, so people have to delay their retirement no matter whether they are competent. The most important is the revenue of medical system or other relevant fields has jumped in past several decades, which makes governments have financial deficit, such as Greece, Germany and Japan. To sum up, we cannot deny that aging society has strengths, but its negative effects and corresponding consequences should be realised and we should take actions as soon as possible.
