In the last decade, desert keeps growing in Inner Mongolia where I live, killing substantial areas of prairie, leaving thousands of wild animals homeless and helpless. likewise, ecological environment all around the world is in great danger owing to human's activity, provoking people's fierce discussion whether it is too late to save the earth. Some people holding the negative view claim that it is a inevitable trend that the environment will keep worsening. There is little human can do to terminate it. Firstly, the earth is overpopulated. Human, as a greed mammal, has to gain resources from the environment in order to survive. Our exploration of nature resources, our growing requirement of food will make us take too much from the environment, breaking the balance of the life circle and even non-life circle like carbon circle, neutron circle. Secondly. the balance of our planet is already broken. Problems like deforestation, desertization, over grazing have trigger the debacle of the earth. Our understanding of the earth is still too poor to save us . In contrast, other experts's attitude is quite rosy. they argue that no other animals are as intelligent to evolve the concept of conservation. Given that earth's hearth condition keeps stable in their age, we human, the only intelligent creature, can definetly make the earth better even though we have made some mistakes in the last several centuries. some cases in point are: Instead of fossil resources, we make use of nuclear energy which has no detriment to the environment; instead of eating wild animals, we feed chicken, sheep as our food; forests are under scientific protection; trees and grass are planted to fight against sand storm. Earth, as our mother planet, will be taken good care of, nice and sound. In my opinion, though I cannot deny the harm we have done to the environment and the fact that the situation is getting worth, I also witness the growing awareness of the public that environmental conservation is just as significant as feeding our babies. Late is better than never. Our planet will again be the paradise where human and a variety of animals and plants are in great harmony.
