Whenever I go into the newly built library in my city, the fragrant of book flows into my nose and my soul. The scene of hundreds of people concentrating on the book also makes me think of the power of knowledge and the merit this free library bring to people. However, whether building a free library is worthy of the money it cost is still a controversial topic. Many people think that Library is an important basic institute of a city no matter it is a metropolis or a small town. To begin with, government should encourage its citizens to develop the habit of reading which is an efficient way to level up people's life quality. People reading more book are more sane, gentle and creative. Consecuently, the society will be more stable, prosperous, and harmonious. Besides, reading is an effective way to promote an individual's ability in enjoying a better life. It is easier to develop the habit of reading if they are offered a library where people can relax after working under pressure or cultivate their taste by digest knowledge and ideas from other wise brains. However, other people hold the opposite opinion. They argue that there are many cheaper ways to read than building a free library. Internet, for example, working as a magnificent resource searching system, is capable to provide any book and articles. Readers can just simply type in some key words and begin to scan and to read instead of spending much time in the heavy traffic and searching for hours to find the books they are intrested in. Smart phone and ipad also help to make any book available anywhere. In my opinion, libraries built by the government is essential. It shows the attitude of government on how people should value reading. It helps a lot on encouraging citizens to develop the habit of reading. What's more, a library is a quiet and devine place where everyone forgets about the stress of job and hence slows their pace to communicate with their inherent souls. By no mean can the Internet has these advantages.
