My 62-year-old uncle, who moved into town ten years ago, has beening conplaining about the air polution and traffic conjection for several years and is planning to move back to the village where life is incovenient but much cleaner and more relaxing. He seems to be not alone on this. There is a growing consensus that life in citis, especially metropolis, is getting tougher. Although these conplainations are complex, ranging from polution, which devistate people's health, to people's relationship, which seems to be quite fragile, the causes are simpler in my opinion. Competition plays the most crucial role in reducing life quality. Metropolises provide more abundant job opportunities than small towns so that more people, especially younsters, choose to develop their careers in big cities. In this way, competition rises and most people have to accelarate their pace to keep up with and excel to other. This lead to higher life stress. As a result, more people place importance on fighting for a success on career, rather that creating a cozy living environment. Many problems emerge from this such as traffic jam, fewer communication between people. Many solutions are proposed such like more relaxing parks and theater should be built to alleviate citizens from the stressful urban life. These ideas are usefull to some extent though, I personally reckon that the most effient and basic way is to develop small citis so that these newly developed cities can absurb much investment, job opportunity and thus labour form metropolis, making the competition less fierce and population less concentrated. Government should be resbonsable for this by investing more money to compenies in small cities and improve the infrastructure.
