From ancient times to nowadays, people always like to judge a person at the first glance by his appearance. For example, nearly in all the films, the hero is handsome and the heroine is beautiful. Well, appearance maybe significant, but from my perspective, it is unwise to judge a person only by how he looks like. Firstly, a person’s ability is not equal to his outlooking. For example: Socrates who was a wise man in ancient Greece was ugly if only judged from his outlooking. However, he was well known for his wisdom and knowledge. In fact, we can find much more facts like this from history, or even nowadays. Secondly, time is fair to everybody. If a person spend more time on study or work than on dressing him up, he will do much better than the others. I do remember Einstein’s hair and mustache were always in a mess. He must be a beggar in the eyes of the person who only judge people by their appearances. The last but the most important thing is the development of the science and technology. With its development, people are much easier to change their outlookings than before, not only through fashionable clothes, modern hair styles, various cosmetics but also their original appearances through face-lifting. So does a person’s outside looking have any relationship with his characters? The answer is absolutely “No”, and it is surely unscientific to judge one by his outside impact. Everybody knows that the world is changing rapidly. We don’t know what the future will be next day or even next second. When someone makes friends through the internet, I wish that he who likes to judge the other’s characters by his pictures should be more careful. It is a miserable fact that traps are everywhere especially in the internet. I do appreciate an old saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
