Nowadays, it has become a prevalent trend for people to imitate others before they can strike out on their own and maybe create something new. Meanwhile, a host of professors encourage or advocate them to product something original and creative to gain a favorable chance for reputation. Taking a look around, we can find a great many people like this. A number of people prefer to create something new. From their perspective, making something original and creative will enhance their development and competiveness, because they can gain abundant experience from their creation and then know how to make their production become more successful. Take Steve Jobs, the ex-CEO of Apple for example. There is no doubt that people can think highly of Jobs, for he was one of the most successful businessmen and scientists in the field of computers. But was Jobs’ success merely based on imitation? Of course the answer is negative. As we all know, one of the most important reasons for his success consists in his creativity. Without his marvelous creativity, Jobs hadn’t invented so many useful and smarter digital products, such as IPAD, IPHONE, etc; without his super creativity, the Apple products would be just the same as other products in the market; without his unexceptional creativity, Jobs did not change the world of technology and achieve such a great success. Through Jobs’ innovative spirit, Apple has become an exceedingly outstanding and successful company, and the Apple products are extremely popular to people all over the world. Thus, there is no denying the fact that creativity and originality is greatly necessary for one’s success. Even so, others hold a different view that it is necessary for people to imitate others. In their eyes, nothing is completely original and all artists’ work builds on what came before. For instance, people had learned to imitate the kangaroo to create an off-road vehicle long time ago. In addition, radar, submarine, and so on are also the imitations of the animals. Therefore, they insist that the quality of originating and creating is not as satisfactory as expected. By and large, I am convinced that the advantages derived from creation far outweigh that of imitation. Without originality and creativity, it is impossible for people to have more opportunities to do something extraordinary. However, people are advisable to master some skills, gain some knowledge , and learn from those who have gone before them while originating and creating.
