It's a fairly popular trend across the global to find out one's family history in recent years. This move happened mostly because today's world is more rich and peaceful than ever, people are more demanding for spiritual satisfaction. Thus they start to be curious about where their family originated from? Had there been any prominent people in their family history they could be proud of? The good aspect of this trend lie with that it will help people collect and sum up their family record, benefit the research of history, also increase ordinary people's sense of pride and belongings. There were many disturbances in human history like war, disaster etceteras which could cause immigration, change of name, thus it will be hard to know the past if we lack records. Besides, when these records are lost or lacked, it's necessary to trace back to one's family history to make it up. But on the other hand, this activity may cost a lot of money and energy, and some people simply pursue it for their vanity or following the fashion. This activity may need a lot of help from professionals, may also be long lasting rather than instant. It promotes the trend of comparing which doesn't really reflect their real need. As a result, many valuable resources were allocated to this area but don't reproduce equivalent or more social wealth. In conclusion, I think people need to be rational and this activity should not be encouraged, Unless there is a real need from personal or culture research perspective.
