Many parents are complaining about the long vacation for students recently when they see their kids squandering time on the internet, hanging out with peers to mid night during the break. However, from where I stand, shorter vacation with longer working time should not be encouraged, which may lead to deterioration of the quality of education. The reasons are as follows. First of all, low efficiency cannot be avoided during the long-time consistent learning. Initially, students, especially undergraduate students, whose facing great pressure during the whole smester really need a break sometime. The 11-month learning period seems too long for them. It makes impossible for students to concentrate on their work and feel exhausted to face the challenges of hard questions. Additionally, not only the children, but also their teachers will get tired of the schooling. What's more, teaching and learnign are both comprehensive process. Application of knowledge is regarded as one significant part of learning process. For the students, the vacation is the best time to take action. Many social practices are conducted during the holidays, in which students will do the field research in the area they are interested, or take some internship to get practical skills. Thus, the vacation period is fantastic time for them to learn more practical knowledge which can never be acquired from the text books. Indeed, only one-month vacation mentioned in the statement is far from enough. More important, traveling and visiting some friends are also fantastic idea about the vacation. Being in a new place bring us unexpected development and immeroble experiences. Secondly, teachers element cannot be ignored. Basiclly, especially in university, regeneration of knowledge is necessary and significant for the teachers, so indeed for the enhancement of teaching quality, which directly influence the education of the students. What do the teacher do during the vacation? As far as I know, many of them will take the period to conduct their researches, take part in the scholar meetings, and prepar for the teaching content in next semester. There is no doubt that long-time and intermitent vacation are necessary for teachers. As a result, we cannot hastily jump to the nagetive judgement of the vacation.
