My mother is now sixty years old, after her retirement, she resolved to master the english language. To this end, she kept asking me to recommend her a good text book and I suggested the New Concept English. Since then, the voice of "lesson one, lesson two ..." has repeatedly played loud and clear every morninig in her room, which in some way plays a role of alarm to woke me up until I went to Beijing. Although after so many years, my mother has changed the self-leaning equipment from the original tap-recoder to a workman, to a mp3 player and now a mobile phone, her progress never went beyond lesson 20 of NCE book 2. But she seems to quite enjoy the pace of her studying and her ambitious dream to get a degree on language has never changed. Dispite my mother's determination, few of us does have the courage to keep persuiting the idea of mastering a skill or a subject of knowledge that he or she have long been dreaming. We may intimidated by the tight schedule, the difficulty of studying and the jokes from others if we failed. Sometime, we are not as good as children and old people in terms of studying. If there is a will, there is a way. if we keep studying, the process would be rewarding, so never give up on getting a degree.
