How I look? As we all know, people’s view on beauty are different. However, what is beauty? I think that no one could come up with the right answer. Women and men often have different ideas about what’s beauty and have different ways of expressing. Women generally don't think themselves as a looker. No matter how attractive a woman may appear to be to others, no matter how many people was complement her on her appear, when she looks at herself in the mirror alone, she thinks, “not good enough.” Women care about how they look a lot. But most men, to the best of my knowlege, usually think of themselves as average-looking and they are rarely care about how they look. However, why on the earth women and men have so great differences on how they look. As far as I’m concerned, there are many complex psychological and social reasons. Recently, I got an opinion of it from a writer; she think that “Barbie” plays a big role on this, because most girls grow up playing with a beautiful doll and they grow up wanting to become a lady as beautiful as a Barbie. That is difficult to live up to, but girls tried their best to reach. On the contrary, most of the action figures that boys played with when he was little were hideous-looking. As a result, women and men have different attitude on how they look, and have different ideas about what is beauty. There are many things show the different degree of how women and men care about their looks. For most women, if she is prepare to have a date with someone she care about very much she will take a whole day long to dress up herself so that she can show up with a perfect look. Nevertheless, men would never take so many times to make they look better, they generally think that it is a waste of time, only a man who came down with psychosis would do things like this. So, it’s easy to find that every time when your mother prepare to go out she is bound to take a long time to dress up herself, and your father must be urge her to dress up faster. Most men do not like to dress up themselves; even though they have to take a lot of time to waiting for his wife they would never use the time to make themselves look better. On our daily life, we are frequently to hear that woman is asking to someone who around her “how I look?”, while we can rarely to hear that a man asked the question to people around him. In my opinion, there are three main reasons why women ask the question “how I look”. The first reason might be they grow up with a beautiful doll, and they want to be a pretty lady like a beautiful doll. The second is likely being that woman is always not so confident like most of men, so they constantly pursue to become more beautiful. The third one is that there are some outdate conception thought that women must be pleased men, so they are more like to dress up themselves.
