When teenage grow up, they have a lot of choices to determine their further lives. Among these choices, one has become much more popular since two decades ago. That is attending college. People attend college and university for many reasons, but in my opinion, some of them are in common recognized by major. First, attending college and university is a way of career preparation. Nowadays, works are getting more complex to finish, and people find there are more difficulties when finding a job. There is no doubt that all the companies are willing to employ those who have enough working skills and knowledge, other than those who are less educated. Colleges and universities, certainly, offer the skills and knowledge needed in people’s further vocation, and that’s of course become one reason people tend to go to college and university. When they attend the college, they could choose a major, then take a variety of classes, learning about accounting, mathematics, computer and so on, which will surely be indispensable. In that case, they may get a better preparation for the job finding and consequent career lives, in order to get higher position, better income, and more chances of promoting. Second, in college and university, people could practice their social skills. People will meet many others, for instance, professors, other students, and some of the college staff. People need to communicate with them, in order to get help when in trouble, to exchange ideas about some events, and solve problems together. In these processes, social skills take an important role, which is recognized by most of people. A better social skill can lead to a better relationship with others, and that will undoubtedly make others pleasant to help or chat with them. Take myself as an example. When I was in high school, I never thought about how to communicate with others. But when I came into university, I found that I had to talk to others skillfully, which could benefit me when asking for help and attending some campus activities. What’s more, social skills are still very useful in the future, not only at work but also in every minute of daily lives. Also, people attending college, may hold the idea of making friends. In college, relationship among people can usually be not as complicated as in companies, making it much more easy to make friends, who may be their best fellows in life. People could easily make friend when attending various activities, or just competing while studying. If they have the same interests, such as physical exercises, activities of volunteers, or shopping, they will exchange their opinions, chat about some interesting events and at last be good friends. That may partly explain why some people are willing to go to college.
