Watching TV, as one of the main entertainment ways, is good for all ages of people to enjoy themselves undoubtedly, especially, the children. However, some people assert that children could not benefit from the TV, whereas others take a negative attitude. It is quite understandable for people to hold the different view on this issue. Those people who favor that watching TV is the last choice, list their reasons below. One of the primary causes is that watching TV will make children addicted. Nowadays, there are so many channels to play various programs in TV in order to attract persons. For children, new things interested them, and they do not have a good enough self-control-ability to manage the TV time. So, adolescents are easily addicted to watch television. Besides, watching TV too long is not healthy. Whatever the children or adults, sitting too long in front of the TV will harm the eyes. Further more. Studies show when people watch the programs and eat at the same time, they will forget how much food they have eaten. And that will cause the obesity. However, lots of people consider TV can benefit children. The main reason is that watching TV with family can enhance the interrelationship of family members. Family watch together and talk together is an effective way to interact with each other. What is more, watching some programs can broad children’s horizon and increase their knowledge. For example, the ‘ Animal World’ and ‘Art Attack’ are the typical educational programs which can assume the fairly useful and amazing information that children could not learnt in the schools. As far as my point, as long as children watch television involves the parents’ supervision, it is still worth watching TV. In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages for children to watch TV. For merits, parents should select the suitable programs for children, because there are a lot of violence and sex on the TV. Besides, sitting in the sofa too long is harmful to children’s body. For drawbacks, watching television with family can improve the family relationship, and it can develop the knowledge. Overall, if parents supervise their children watching TV will be the best choice
