There is a saying that when people succeed, it is because of hard work. True, if people are willing to succeed, working hard usually take a significant part in their actions. However, luck is another important factor heading to success. Sometimes, luck is not a factor to be ignored, while several examples reveal this. When you are taking a exam, perhaps you have two choices that you can’t decide which one is correct, then you have to try your luck; When you are applying for an ideal job opportunity, and feel a little nerves before the interview, but it turns out that the interviewer is the person you gave a hand to on the way here. This is the way that luck goes, which may give you an incredible effect which your hard work could not bring about. If luck shows appreciation for you, success may come at so fast a speed that you have never thought about; however, if the luck is away from you, even if you work hardest, you can hardly achieve the goal. While not ignoring the importance of luck, never should we forget to try our best to work hard. Working hard means time, energy, and even heart. There is no short-cut for success, which tells us that the critical thing we need to consider is how hard we can work. Take myself for instance. When I was a hydrologic engineer in a company, once I participated in a program in which a mathematical model was needed to stimulate the process of a precipitation. At that time, I knew little about the model, but after several months’ hard work, in average more than 12 hours per day, I managed building up the model and was honored for it. I am proud of my hard work, for it leads me to success. In conclusion, a success needs not only hard work, but also good luck. “Success is composed by 10 percent luck, 20 percent talent and 70 percent endeavor,” says Albert Einstein. I really appreciate this saying.
