As is symbolically illustrated in the cartoon, several people are surrounding an elephant, touching it in every aspect with their hands. They all want to figure out the whole image of the elephant, however, it seems that they can not achieve their purpose. From the drawing, we can conclude that the painter wants to convey the message that when we learn a new subject, we should approach a problem from a comprehensive and objective point of view. On the one hand, it’s inevitable that people will make a mistake if they look on just one side of a problem. On the other hand, looking at both sides of the problem can help people penetrate the surface and see thing in depth. Moreover, when people make a judgement, they can not only draw a lesson from predecessor’s experiences, but also refer to some useful knowledge of books. It is my point of view that, to emphasize the importance of thinking comprehensively is to indicate a powerful way to achieve success, only in this way can we make a proper decision
