With the rapid development of technology, more and more young people nowadays tend to phone each other more often than write to each other. That leads some people have an idea that phone will kill letter writing in the future. As a matter of fact, the worry is groundless. In my opinion, phones will never kill letter writing, this is impossible. First of all, letters are indirect, which is more convenient in some delicate situations, such as showing your love or your concern, borrowing money, asking for help and so on. Although phone calls have advantages over letter writing, for example, they are much faster when we ask others for help, and people can also hear the voice. But we are afraid of being refused, at this time, letters can do us a favor; because we give the other side time and space to consider and we won’t feel lose our face. Under those situations, we do these things by writing letters can avoid embarrassment and awkwardness. Besides, writing a letter for greetings has its own special advantages. As we all know, it is much cheaper than making a call. Not only can writing a letter save us money but also it shows more respect and sincerity to others. For instance, when you want to invite someone to your party or to dinner with you, you'd better send him an invitation letter, which is more formal than just making a call. Secondly, phone calls just last for a few minutes and can be easily bugged by bad guys, while letters can be kept for a long time and much safer than phones. Writing letters are more privacy than phone calls. As is known to all, there are many news about mobile phones were bugged. Many people are bothered about it, for it threatens their personal secrets and privacy. Nevertheless, if you writing letters, you don’t need to worry about it at all. Furthermore, you may find some old letters in the deepest of the draw when you are old, reading them during the sunset, with a lot of beautiful and sweet memories flooding into your mind. Also, we will remember who helped you, who loved you, and who concerned you. By reading those old letters, you might see a young beautiful girl who owned red lips, smooth skin, bright eyes and full of energy and passion. What an unforgettable feeling it is!. And I believe, this feeling is something that you can definitely never experience through several phone calls. All in all, writing letters will never be replaced by phone in people's daily life. It is not just an envelope, but our nice memories. Witting letters are more emotional than phone calls, and it can exist in our whole life and company us forever. I find the statement that phone calls will kill writing letters to be too narrow. What’s more, letter writing will absolutely survive and even thrive in the Information Age. Phones can never kill it, neither will anything. It's perhaps more appropriate to say that they supplement each other instead of replacing each other.
