With the rapidly developing economy which incurs more demand for natural resources,and booming population all over the world who triggers more troubles such as demanding more clean water,more crops and meat,and more land for establishing real estate.But what ensues with the excessive extension of human activities,is the dramatic decrease of wilderness and the deterioration of natural environment.Consequently,among our society,there is an increasingly vehement argument about the limitation of human activities.Some experts such as economists and mandarins insist that in order to combat with the upsurging demand of cities and citizenry,we should exploit the planet at the full blast,but other people especially ecologists annouce that the sigificance of protecting the natural world cannot be ignored.Personally thinking,both points have their own advantages and we should come up with an eclectic solution. Firstly,generally speaking,social progress including economic development,technological innovations and medical advancement,is the main catalyzer of population increment,according to anthropologists.Also,social progress is the powerful impetus and inevitably will be purchased forever by human being.Thus,population seems to increase undoubtedly and the the demand for natural resources will accumulate as the years roll on.At the same time,how to solve the problems of emerging shortage on resources could depend on two methods,i.e.to enhance the efficiency of usage and frugality,or to extense the spectrum of exploration.Therefore,for the sake of living level,there is no doubt that the relation between human and nature will be complicated. Secondly,however,as long as people are taking advantage of the earth,what cannot be neglected is to preserve the land and to protect the planet which by now is the unique planets available for human being.Obviously,if society ignores the conservation of the earth,the land will revenge as a result of over-utilization.For instance,from ancient era in China to modern culture,people living in ShanXi Province where mountains and hills are widespread and agriculture is the crucial economic part,burn the lush forest and then cultivate crops,with over-irrigation and without any protection for the soil.Unsurprisingly,later the soil begins to disappear along with the rain.And the problem is so fierce that massive farmers have to foresake their traditional profession and to emigrate from the province.Indeed,this is an alarming and educational example for people. To sum up,on the basis of above logic,we should find out an advisable methodology to keep compatible relation between the society and the nature.In my view,this methodology is a prestigious policy-the sustainable development which had been annouced by the UN in last century.It offers a sagacious reasoning to keep balance between harnessing the resources in a reasonable rate and conserving the earth for the bnefits of our descendents.
