These days, there has been a heatedly debate on the design of courses in campus. Some hold the view that the students should learn more about history, whereas others insist they are supposed to concentrate more on things related to themselves. From the perspective of my own, both have the benefit to the individuals’ development, meaning we should make a balance between. There is no doubt we can learn a lot from history. History is the summary of the past days, we can learn experiences and sufferings from that, which avoids making the same mistake. To be specific, in the history course, we can get a better understanding of the reason why a dynasty built up and finally collapsed down, it is the wealth of great value, making the country more stable as well as develop more sustainablle. However, much history just presents a disorted and biased picture by the people who are in favour of the rulers of most dynasties, so it demands us to think more and distinguish the good form the bad. Only into history is not enough, thanks for the development of electronic technology we are living in a period which changes so fast compared with the old days. The proportion of famers decreases rapidly by the invention of automatic vechicles, and there is a high demand of well-rounded people. So it is of great important to cast a practical skill, like computer, languages and etc. What’s more, it’a market society, only you can live yourself, you will have the ability and desire to learn history and do other researches. So in a nutshell, it’s hard to say which is more important between the two, a good balance between them is what we advocate.
