Currently, regarding the factors causing the decline in the quality of life in large cities, people cannot reach a consensue. Some people hold the view that the rapid peace of life in big cities lead to the lower life quality, while others do not agree or have different opinions. In this essay, I intend to discuss this possible causes and suggest some potential solutions. Undoubledly, the reasons contricuting to the decreasing welfare awareness are complex. Initially, the rapid peace of life in big cities indeed is one of the important causes responsible to such social matter. Due to the huge living pressure in modern cities, it is more likely that few people have enough spare time to enjoy their life, strenghen family tie and think about the real meaning of happiness, while, without non-material life, the higher life quality would be realised. Also, the emphasis on the material rich weakens relatively the attention of people on the mental health. In the today's society, the ambition of pursuing the material wealth results in the ignorance of morality and ethic among some people, impacting the mental civilization of society as a whole and consequently causing the overall drop in the life quality of society as a whole. Therefore, I suggest some measures should be taken as soon as possible. Firstly, mass media should enhance the promotion of balanced and healthy lifestyle. More seminars on the scientific and reasonable living ways should be provided to the public, because people taking the unhealthy lifestyle in large cities, to a large extent, attributes to the lack of consciousness about the harms of those living ways to themselves. Secondly, the recreational facilities should be constructed by the government, which would offer citizens places to relax and release their pressure from the work and study. Thirdly, communities could organize public service activities and provide psychological consultancy, which would enrich the daily life of people living in the communities and relieve their psychological pressure as well. To conclude, a wide range of factors interact, leading to the decline of quality of life in the big cities. However, this situation would be solved through the joint effort made by government, mass media and communities.
