Many people think cheap air travel should been couraged because it gives ordinary people freedom to travel further. However, others think this leads toenvironmental problem, so air travel should be more expensive in order to discourage people from having it. Discuss both views andgive your own opinion.

本题是旧题，与2008年6月14日的考题完全相同，与2010年4月10日（见下）的考题也几乎一致。属于科技类与环保类的混合话题，题型为Discursive(Argumentation)。值得一提的是，最近考老题的次数较多，上一次考试（2011年3月19日）的考题与2008年11月15日的完全相同，因此提醒各位考生一定要重视对历年考题的复习。有意思的是，今天欧洲考区的话题同样是科技类与环保类的混合题型，同样是2008年的考过的旧题。题目是科技改变农产品产量与质量的利弊（详见本文最后）。
【话题评价】
环保类写作话题题库中有一个小分支是关于“交通工具”的。从2003年至今，这个分支话题共出现8次，其中2次是问汽车的利弊，6次飞机是否应该被限制（其余4道话题见下）。这些话题的基本思路都是相同的，缺点主要从环保角度去考虑。当然每个话题有不同的侧重点，同学需要认真对待。

本文属于Discuss both views and give youropinion题型，因此双方的观点必须都提及，缺一不可。但是结论上未必要折中，如果要支持一方的话，则选择驳斥另外一方即可。
用词灵活多样，也能较灵活地使用一些学术词汇；从句比例偏少，简单句稍微偏多了；语言不流畅；连词使用偏少。
At the beginning of 20th century, the first plane in the world invented by wright brothers wowed people by its stunning speed and then turned its time around the world. However, the relationship between technology and environment protection is a bitter-sweet and one that has been debated at length. For example the pollution caused by flight is inevitable. So, environment protection activists claim that air travel should be more expensive thus discouraging people from using it. While, others against it by saying the convenience brought by flight. Personally, I agree with the latter. Here are the following reasons: First, the increase of plane ticket may cause the drop of using plan. But it is not the same as pollution reduction. Due to expensive plan expenses, people may change their communication modes, either by train or self-drive. Can we say other communication modes will not lead to any pollution? Some people may doubt people will travel for a long distance by slow-speed traffic because the tardiness is as welcome as fart in a space suit. Fortunately, there is a newly-rise way of travelling, the high-speed rail, comes to their rescue. High-speed rail share the common features of plan and features like high-speed and convenience like plan. So, if plan ticket becomes more expensive, it will change the way of travelling but not the pollution. More expensive air ticket is not a way out. Then, what if the expense is cheaper? Naturally, more people will choose air travel and it not causes more pollution because less people will take train or other communication mode. With the development of technology, clean fuel may apply to airplane to decrease pollution. On the other hand, more people will enjoy a comfortable travel and increase the level of national happiness. Cheap tickets not only bring benefits to common people but also businessman. Thus, it will bring more economic benefits. All in all, we know that reaching that blessed destination where we are enjoying all the comfortable brought by technology not worrying about the environment requires admitting as much facing up to the truth. The truth is that we should do more to take environment into consideration.
