In this paper, the author has discussed the definition, classification, purposes and functions of euphemisms and studied English euphemism translation from the perspective of the Skopos theory. Due to the cultural and formational differences of English euphemism and Chinese euphemism, the main problems of English euphemism translation are mistranslation and loss of original rhetoric flavor. According to the analysis of translation problems, the translation principles consist of preservation of euphemistic meaning, accuracy and understandability. Different strategies can be applied to the translation of euphemism due to different purposes. Translator should take into account various factors---culture, context and target audience during translating and adjust the strategy along with the Skopos. However, some limitations of the paper still exist for the author’s lack of knowledge and limited ability. For instance, the translation strategy has not thoroughly discussed; the discussion of euphemism translation can be more special, such as the journalism euphemisms, diplomatic euphemisms and so on. Moreover, further studies on euphemism and its translation will increase for the development of globalization.
