We have to admit that the establishment of error analysis theory is a significant advance of foreign language learning that definitely helps students learn second language to some degree. Error analysis theory not only help students improve their English learning, but also help teachers know students’ English level. Meanwhile, this theory effectively provides researchers with further research topics. What’s more, it will help explore the causes and then help students prevent or reduce the occurrence of errors. It is known to us all that writing accounts for a big score in English test. Though Chinese students make great efforts in learning English, the result is not satisfying. Based on the recent survey, the average mark of writing is 4 or 5 but the maximum score is 10. Learning English consists of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Among the four basic skills, writing is considered to be the most difficult. So it is of great importance for teachers to guide junior students to learn the basic expression in compositions, especially noun forms. Error analysis is also regarded as a type of testing method for teachers’ teaching method. So teachers in junior middle schools can apply the technique of error analysis to the teaching of English writing properly. Probably the ability of writing can be effectively improved in this way. Lately, the increasing number of empirical studies on error analysis have sprung up. However, many researches take college students as the subjects, yet, only a few are for junior students. Besides, few researches concentrate on error analysis of number errors and it will be a special field. The present will mainly focus on what causes these errors.
