Admittedly, arts such as painting and music do not improve people’s life directly. Some people, therefore, claim that government shouldn’t invest much in arts. Although, this idea is true to some extent, i heartily believe that government should spend money on them. People who are in favor of this idea may cite that government should rather focus on more serious issues than on arts. There are many acute problems human beings are currently faced with, such as air and water pollution, overpopulation and low employment rate, which are linked directly with people’s lives. If those problems can be tackled, people’s lives could be improved on a large scale. In addition, arts such as music and movies often require large amount of money to develop, which more often than not lead to a waste of money because their consequences can not be guaranteed to be a success. However, i would still argue that government should spend money on arts because their potential power is limitless. It is true that arts like music and painting can’t not improve people’s life in a straight way. But they have become an irreplaceable part of many people’s lives as arts in one way or another can ease people’s psychological tension brought by their work, which in return could help improve people’s health. Moreover, art industry is also a strong stimulation for our economy because there are millions of dollars produced in this industry every year and they are developing at a rapid speed. In conclusion, even though arts do not improve people’s lives directly, they are still an important past of people’s lives as they ease tension and simulate economy, which both could improve the standard of people’s lives in a long run.
