The differences between China and Britain are not only reflected on the architecture, history and culture, but also on the education. There are many differences in the education of the two nations. So in this article, I will mainly compare the different education concepts of Britain education and Chinese education. Because of the tremendous differences in history and culture, the educational philosophy is significantly different between China and Britain. Firstly, the purpose is different. The purpose of the British education is clear and simple, which aims at developing every student into a qualified citizen, letting all children have a happy healthy and safe childhood, helping students develop their abilities as much as possible, letting them gradually grow into adults who have experience, educational background and extensive skills, and eventually making them achieve the success in social life and the process of employment and realize their own value. This goal is concise and practical, which can be realized for most students. However, the education purpose of Chinese is very general. The standards formulated by our nation are high, which emphasize that students should develop themselves in an all-around way in morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetic and labor. It aims at training a well-rounded student. I don’t think it is very practical. Secondly, the focus of the teaching is different. British specific teaching concept pays more attention to students' ability to thinking independently and the hands-on skills, and as well as the ability of working together to accomplish a learning task. While Chinese education attaches importance to the knowledge-education. With the deep influence of Confucius's idea, China focuses on the importance of knowledge education. Teachers teach students whatever textbooks have and focus on the accuracy of the knowledge. Teachers pay close attention to whether students master the existing knowledge completely rather than focus on whether students have novel ideas and the capacity of independent thinking. This is why Chinese students are better at memorizing while lack the ability of independent thinking. Bring what has been discussed into a conclusion, I think we can learn the advantages from each other to improve ourselves. I think this course is beneficial and interesting. First, I have the general understanding of Britain through more than half a semester of study. Second, our teacher often puts some knowledge of extracurricular into this course, which makes us have the different understanding of Britain from a different perspective. Third, this course cultivates our abilities in many aspects. Our teacher requires that every one of us should have a presentation on this course and make a comment on the presentation, which not only improves our capacity of oral expression and the independent learning ability but also hones our courage and insight. For example, I am introverted and in the beginning I thought this task was difficult for me to complete. However, although there are some shortcomings I did it successfully. It is important that I know how to improve myself. We improve ourselves by conquering ourselves. I enjoyed the great benefit of this course.
