Since the birth of mankind, the exchange is essential. With social progress and cultural development, transnational exchanges are becoming more frequent and important. The world we were living in changes in technology, tourism, economic and political systems, migration patterns and population density and so on. More of our people contacts with different cultural backgrounds. Value is a social consciousness, directing the people's way of thinking and behavior patterns. Culture, history, customs and people's daily behavior and interpersonal relations of a country are closely connected with the country's cultural values. In a cross-cultural communication, relationships are often transmitted with different values. Chinese people are advocating collectivism, while Western assertive individualism. Daily life, many interpersonal phenomena can be attributed to the values of individualism and collectivism orientation. In a recent study of Chinese and Western culture, the values of collectivism and individualism have received attention. In the five basic dimensions of Hofstede comparative cultural values, individualism and collectivism are reflected in all aspects of culture. Therefore, to study the relationships of Western culture, we must study the differences between the values of collectivism and individualism. To win a clear understanding of the personal relationships in China and West, we will use the values of collectivism and individualism to explore relationships in Western culture.
