In our contry, 56 ethnics co-exist with their unique culture, including their languages--dialects. But for a better understanding, we adopt a unite language, that is Mandarin. And I proclaim that the dialects should not be used in public places. First of all, it is needless to say that language is used to communicate and interact with people. If we just speak dialects instead of Mandarin, we can not understand each other unless we master every second dialect, which is far beyoud our ability and time. And as a result, language will fail to achieve its function. Secondly, once dialects are accepted in pulic places, people would not bother to study Mandarin but just be occupied in their own culture and group, which will da harm to culture combining and restrain the birth of new culture. All in all, dialects should be the last one to be acceptable in public places for the sake of people's life and the infusing of diverse cultures.
