with putonghu getting more promotion in public place ,are dialects just as acceptable in public places? the answer is positive,i think.dialects should be also allowed in public place along with putonghua or mandarin being advocated by government. firstly,dialects passed downward through the ages is a kind of traditional culture and actually beyond language. if impose restriction on it,we really ruin the traditional culture.secondly, we can say,dialects are pretty precious with unique local cultural features.there are many kinds of dialects in china,and each having different and unique characteristic,which carrying local people's wisdom and spirit passed by from generation to generation.we can roughly judge a man by his dialect where he came from,and then try to imagine more information the man in this region has.townee people who met in the place far away their town would like to chat affectionately by their dialect,because of some kind of affection with the dialect.thirdly,there are lots of undereducated people who can even speak putonghu.if dialects are forbidden in public places,they could not communicate with each other.that's real unfair for them. so we should let the dialects run their natural couse while aiming to promote mandarin.
