With the increasingly rapid development of commercial society and the significant role which the education can play in nudging social progress and promoting personal status,numerous people want to learn those courses which could give them indubitable advantages in the future competition.Indeed,in the long history of human civilization,especially in eastern Asia,where the tenets taught by Confucius always dominate the educational system and possess crucial position in human's heart,obtaining knowledge and utilizing individual ability could be in most cases the main path for a youngster who comes from impoverished background to change his fate.Therefore,many experts,including scientists who intent to strengthen the importance of natural science,technicians who intents to teach practical skills to adolescents,and economists who intents to make teenagers sagacious for the operation of our economy,etc.,are debating about what should be taught in schools.Personally thinking,older schoolchildren should be given adequate chances to choose the subjects that they are curious about. Actually,it is obvious that just a few youngsters or adults have the curiousity for the abstruse elements and scientific doctrines.Under most circumstances,more adolescents will search for advisable employments which can bring high salary and reasonable position in the whole society.Indeed,it is those basic knowledge that take a vital part in the quotidian life of ordinary people.Through learning wide range subjects rather than just several professional courses,the young can equip themselves with fundamental lore and more useful skills. Moreover,learning diverse subjects cannot only deliver the basical skills and knowledge to schoolchildren,but also bring benefits to mental health and spiritual optimization.For instance,if a child whose major is physics or chemistry,only reads scientific articles or launch experiments in the laboratory,he will not understand how the society operates and the sublime beauty of the universe.Indeed,reading poems or studying arts would express a resplendent scene to people,thus making the psychological condition more sprightly and positive. However,this method,i.e.learning wide range subjects,perhaps has negative effect,too.As knowledgeable and experienced as schoolchildren could become,they may not have a professional field to fortify their ability.On the one hand,they can have plenty of opportunities to make their own choices which will be the vital factors in their careers.On the other hand,they may be unable to find the authentic oasis in which they dedicate themselves entirely.Therefore,schoolchildren may encounter the ancient question recited incessantly by uncounted philosophers,which is the "option difficulty". Conclusively,on the basis of above ratiocination,the young should be given sufficient space to explore their virginal land,for the sake of letting them fly in the commodious sky in the future.At the same time,teaching staff and course directors should make efforts to assist them to make responsible options.
