How the curriculum should be designed has been debated by many people. While some people assume history should be a compulsory in school, others believe that it is more important to learn subjects which are more relevant to daily life. Obviously, this is a result from the virous recoganitions of school's function in children's life. The reason for school should teach children more practical subjects is based on the understanding that school is the place to prepare the students to find a employment. Since long time ago, how to survive in this competitive world has been a concern for lots of people. So much so they worried about this that they believe the most wise thing people should do is making a living. Therefore, in their oppions, all the time children spent in the school should serve for his or her ability of making a life, by which i mean, they should learn more practicle skills which they can use in the realife in the future. Anything that is irrelevant to making money is not important and whether they should be included in the school's curriculum is not worth to care about. However, those who aclaim history should be a compulsory tend to believe that school is more than a place to learn practical knowledeges. It should be the place where children learn the value of the society and how to be a proper member of the society. If the students do not have a clear perspective about these values, even though they get the knowhow of earning money, they might still do not know how to lead a good life. And when it comes to the history, it is just the subject that can tell the students how the world surounding them has changed and what is important in their society, which enables them to identify the mistakes that people have made before and to prevent them do not do it again. Therefore, although these subjects seem irrelevant to the real life, they actually have a profound influence on people's life and whole society. To conclude, personally, i assuem history is a important subject in school. It is accepetable that asking the school to teach more practical skills since we have invested so much in education, but it should not be the sole perpose of going to school. In fact, a clear mind,which can be got by learning history, is more important in earning a life.
