A study on differences between Chinese and western ghost culture is chosen as the title of this thesis. Firstly, it makes a general introduction about ghost. Secondly, it presents a brief explanation to the the legend of Chinese and western ghost. Thirdly, it analysis the differences of Chinese and western ghost culture, including the ghost in the spirits of Chinese traditional culture and western culture contrast and the differences between Chinese and western ghost culture from the perspective of ghost festival. Then, it discusses the reason for the differences between Chinese and western ghost culture. Finally, it concludes the function of ghost culture in the intercultural communication. This paper mainly discusses the differences between Chinese and western ghost culture. Its purpose is to let reader a more understanding of ghost culture and Chinese and western cultural differences.
