First, high income undoubtedly ensures that professors would not have to do other work to make living, and consequently keep a concentrated state in educating. Even the most austere people cannot deny that professors, like other ordinary people, need to support living by their jobs, so if they cannot do so via their formal work, they must attempt to earn money through other approaches. For example, a significant number of scholars now work for companies in their spare times, to serve as technological counselors or honor memmers, to help the companies to claim the products' "professional quality". Even though they do not need to spend a great amount of time, those "part-time jobs" could become serious disruption to concentration. Otherwise, if universities could provide a favorable salary to release the financial burden, then professors would enjoy a better environment and offer an increased quality of education. Second, in long term, high salaries could attract more young talents to join in the faculty of university, and eventually build up a high standard atmosphere of education and academy. As one of the students who are interested in scientifical studies and who dream to become professors in future, I thoroughly understand the most threatening obstacle faced by us: doing academical cannot make you become a successful person in other's eyes. Even a master in this field can hardly enjoy the similar respect enjoyed by financial tycoons, CEO of a international campany, or a billionaire. A few scientists are immotalized, but most of the rest are forgotten. The basic reason is: public do not respect knowledge. Increasing the salaries of professors can be the first step to change the conventional stereotype: to raise the position of knowledge and to improve the social status of professors or scholars. Then, as a result, more and more people will recognize that professor is an admirable occupation and the overall development of education quality could be motivated.
