On Maintaining Trust A famous saying goes like this' it takes years to bulid trust, and a few seconds to destroy it!' This saying reveals the truth about the difficulty in maintaining trust that it only takes one dishonest action to destory the hard-bulit trust. It is universally acknowledged that trust is essential to the prosperity of any society, and people need an environment of mutual trust to make a happy life. Therefore, I believe that two things are extremely important to maintain trust in our life and society. First and foremost, since trust is build on honesty, honesty behaviour must be practised at all time. Consistency is of vital importance here, because no matter how honest you have been in the past, trust can always be ruined by just one time of dishonest behaviour. The second one, which is even more important, is that people should have a strong sense of self-disciline to resist all kinds of temptation that will contribute to dishonest behaviour. This calls for a strong belief that in honesty and a collective effort to create an honest and trustworthy environment. All in all, trust is what everyone wants in life. Therefore, it is worth a great deal of effort to build and maintain trust in our society.
