When it comes to making plans, ideas differ from person to person. Some people argue that we should insist on a challenging plan, while others prefer to go for a practical plan. As for me, my favor goes to the former view. To begin with, a challenging plan leaves room for improvement. As the old saying goes:” you’ll never know how excellent you can be if you don’t force yourself”. I can attest to that. When I was preparing my TOEFL test, I used to read two pieces of paper, practice speaking half an hour, listen to two pieces of lecture and write an article a day like most of my friends did. With this practical plan I found myself in a common level and became very frustrated with learning English. Later I changed my review plan with reading more, speaking more, listening more and writing more everyday. I was not accustomed to it at first, nevertheless, as I insist on, I found myself progressing quickly. And now I am in the examination room with great confidence. What’s more, I became very interested in English. Furthermore, a challenging plan guarantees more efficiency. In contrast to a practical plan, a challenging plan often brings more risks and accidents. However, this is not only a challenge but also a chance, the chance to improve ourselves. Take my sister for instance. Once she was planning on a vacation to go abroad, my parents arranged the travel schedule for her with my uncle taking care of her in the destination, which was a practical plan. However, she was trying to take the travel herself. She checked the information on line, booked the hotel and enjoyed her vacation. As a result, she made many friends both at home and abroad, and one of them offered her a chance to work as an intern in SOHO. It’s not to say making a practical plan is trivial. The challenging plan should be practical to some extent. We won’t be a professor unless we become a PHD firstly, and a little child won’t become the president over a night. I mean, we should implement the plan step by step. To sum up, a challenging plan makes us more excellent and efficient, and we should implement the challenging plan in a practical way.
